Tanks are near the Israeli border in Egypt once again after 32 years. Egyptian army has announced that 20 militants were killed in recent clashes. Reportedly, a crowded group of soldiers and armored vehicles have been sent to Al Arish city.
On Sunday, an attack against an Egyptian security station 16 soldiers were killed. Egyptian army continues operations backed by tanks and helicopters in the region.
Since Camp David agreement, this has been the biggest military operation carried out in the Sinai Peninsula.
Because of the 1979 Camp David Agreement between Israel and Egypt, there is a limited number of troops with light arms on Sinai Peninsula.
Meanwhile, Egyptian security forces are filling the tunnels in the north of Rafah border gate with earth and rocks. Reportedly, efforts will continue until all the tunnels are closed in the area.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniye said the people of Gaza were totally innocent and asked Egyptian President Morsy to open the tunnels.
